Your Unseen Efforts + Staying Sane

Your Unseen Efforts + Staying Sane

A few Sundays ago, my son came into my room and told me he was craving biscuits and gravy with a side of bacon. My eyes were barely open.

“Where do you want to go?” I asked him.

“I don’t know where the best place is.” He said.

“Well, did you google it?”

“No.”

::::my mind is listing the things I have to do to get out of the house: teeth, face, hair, eyeliner, coffee, clothes, map, car, drive, think:::

“Dude. Do you even realize that deciding where to go is kind of big part of this project, and since I do everything else to make it happen…”

“Well, I just assume you know all the good places, Mom. You seem like you have it all under control. You make everything look easy.” He said as he laid his hand on my arm.

Kid knows how to flatter his way to brunch. PERHAPS WE SHARE DNA.

“Hahahahahahahah. Thank you, son, but this swagger is a finely honed defense mechanism I use to bulldoze my way into an upgraded reality! I’m actually losing my mind to information overload and decision fatigue! You’re going to need to come at me with a destination. Do that, and I’ll make coffee.”

It’s not like I’ve never said this sort of thing before, but for whatever reason it clicked and he nailed it. Biscuits and gravy went straight into our faces. The end.

Just thought I’d tell you that little story because sometimes I need a witness when I have a parenting win. Also, to remind you not to ever let anyone take the work you do for granted.

Just because you make it look easy, doesn’t mean it is. You know this.

But I want you to know that I see it too.

You work hard to keep yourself, your family, pets, kids, and plants alive. It’s no joke.

And you work hard at your job, whether or not it’s your “calling” or whatever. I see you there and you are WORKING.

You work hard at being a good person.

You probably even work hard at relaxing.

Yeah. I said I see you.

I’m writing this from…. inside your house.

But seriously, I do know. And you’re doing an incredible job. Even when you don’t feel like it. You just are.

We all are, so I’ve decided to ease my load a little and hope you’ll join me. Here’s a few things I’m doing:

FIRST, I’m doing a detox. I told you about that last week. It’s freaking awesome and if it keeps going this well I’m going to be offering something similar to you. I want you all to glow and feel light and free. Life is too chaotic and out of control. We have got to take control of our own bodies and health. ALL ABOUT IT. Also, I’ve lost 7 lbs already and I recognize my face again because it’s peach skin instead of puff pastry. So stay tuned.

SECOND, I already use Facebook Feed Eradicator plug in for Google Chrome. It’s like magic. It removes your entire Facebook feed and replaces it with an inspirational quote. You can interact on Facebook just fine, you just can’t see the feed. It’s been saving my brain cells for months. I only scroll on my phone. But I’ve decided the election is just making me SAD all the time. So, I made the executive decision to delete Facebook from my phone until November 9th. Now that, my friends, is democracy in action. Join me?

And last, my Embodiment 101 series is a seven audio series of powerful breathing meditations (that I swear on my fingertips are more awesome than regular lone wolf breathing).

Also, can I just say? YOUR MENTAL HEALTH IS NOT A LUXURY – IT’S A NECESSITY.

We need you. We need each other. We’re better together.

Do you have any thoughts on saving your precious sanity? Questions? Hit reply. Or just say hello. I love hearing from you.
